He developed the concept of the Skins “Fun Bunch” and was an original member of the famed offensive linemen known as the “HOGS.” Playing for coach Dick Vermeil’s UCLA Bruins. Rick received Lineman of the Year honors in 1977 and became a Rose Bowl Champion, also that year; the Associated Press (AP) honored Rick an All American.
As a broadcaster, Rick has been a college football television analyst for ESPN, The Big East Network, and The ACC. As well as a color analyst for the NFL on CBS-Westwood One Radio. Currently, Rick is the sideline reporter for the Washington Redskins, Host of the Doc Walker show on The Team 980, Host of Inside the Redskins on NBC 4. Analyst for Football Central on NBC Washington. And is the host of Doc Walker’s ProView, on MASN. Selling Power Magazine chose Rick “Doc” Walker as one of the region’s top motivational speakers, for speaking engagements Rick specializes in corporate team building and sales training.
Rick is President of ABC Technical Solutions Inc. in Washington D.C.
He was awarded the George Michael Excellence in Media Award and the Thomas G. Corcoran Award from the University Club of Washington DC. He’s a member of the Shirley Povich Center Advisory Board, Executive Committee of the DC Touchdown Club and Washington DC Sports Hall of Fame selection committee.
As an event chairman, he has helped the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation the Alzheimer’s Association the Arthritis Foundation. And Walking with Anthony. Currently, Doc is hosts of the annual National Kidney Foundation golf event.
