It was a forgettable night for the Redskins Monday as they fell 43-19 to the New Orleans, and finding silver linings may be tough, but Paul Richardson Jr.’s night was one. Richardson Jr. matched a season high with four catches, including the Redskins’ biggest offensive highlight with an incredible leaping catch to set up Washington’s first score, making him the Kia MVP of the Game.
Four catches and 50 yards may not seem like much, but it has become clear that Richardson is earning the trust of Alex Smith as the weeks pass. His natural athletic ability will allow Smith to throw balls when Richardson is covered well because he can separate himself. An example of that came on Richardson’s big catch, as Smith dropped back on 3rd and 8 and fired a ball that looked to be over Richardson’s head.
Richardson jumped and looked to levitate as he hung in the air before hauling in the pass. It may have been just one play, but along with the long touchdown catch in Week 3, Richardson is proving he can be a big-time playmaker for the Redskins. Full Video >>
